All proceeds of our sales go to assist in the recovery of my daughter. She fell in 2008 and sustained an injury called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, most commonly referred to as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD) in her right foot and left arm. She spent a better part of 2008 in a wheelchair but has worked very hard to regain use her leg and arm. Although she has made this progress she still has difficulties on a daily basis. RSD is something she most likely will have the rest of her life. There is no cure. A simple bump can turn into RSD and cause her to lose use of the affected area and need months of physical therapy. There are good days and bad days but what she wants most is to be a "normal" kid again. I appreciate all the well wishes and support I have received here on Etsy!
Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), also called reflex sympathetic dystrophy syndrome, is a chronic pain condition in which high levels of nerve impulses are sent to an affected site. Experts believe that CRPS occurs as a result of dysfunction in the central or peripheral nervous systems.
